Fred Coburn died March 14, 1991. He was the son of Arthur ‘Bud’ Coburn (Madison ’20-’21), the brother of Larry Coburn (Greenleaf ’52-’53) and father of John ‘Jay’ Coburn (Mizpah ’73).
Phil Smith died in November 1990 in York Maine. He worked at Lakes in 1937-38. He also worked on the summit one winter.
Ellis Burnett Jump died in a Portland Oregon hospital on September 19, 1990. He worked in the huts from ’30-’35, with a year off to run Moosilauke Summit Camp for the Dartmouth Outing Club. Toni Samuelson died July 24, 1990 at North Conway Memorial Hospital. He worked at PNC in the mid-’30a and was sent by Joe Dodge to the Stage Office on the summit for a couple of fall seasons before the Obs was built and after the Summit House was buttoned up for the season.
Died June 29, 1990. 10th Mountain Division veteran. Lawrie started his career in the huts washing pots and pans for Tex Benton. His ashes were stattered near his beloved Zealand. Memorial contributions can be sent to Rescue Inc., Brattleboro, Vermont.
Charlie Belcher died May 8, 1990. Active in Steering Committee affairs, Charlie was secretary-treasurer form ’63-’75 and occasional MC at the winter reunion.
