September 5, 2006 Sandy Saunders and Jack Middleton have reviewed documents and it appears we are only a matter of weeks away from drafting documents for the final transference of the property from the old trust to the new corporation. Numbers are better than expected, owing to minimal cabin work, and a healthy response to our solicitation for donations and prompt dues payment. Some large expenses still to come, but we should finish the year in the black. Wood supply low? Mike Waddell to check and possibly order new load in time for Octoberfest. 10 over-nighters, on a very rainy weekend, including Hanque Parker and a hut buddy he hadn’t seen since the early 40s. Considering low-key publicity and weather, a success. Still on track to help get the cabin ready for winter. The now annual CC Reunion may get moved to this date (from the spring) next year so current CC can attend. Evites proving an effective and helpful way to sign people up. Reservations are still being accepted through Pinkham, although private rooms at the Highland center seem all sold. Attendance predicted to be around 100, including many noorthcountry OH who don’t usualy make the Winter Reunion. Hut Manager Mike Kautz generously offered to underwrite dinner for any current croo who want to attend (except for Latchstring winners, who dine on our nickel, as do Honorary Members). Tentative dates are Friday, June 29, at Zool, and the 30th at Gale. To be confirmed. Planning committee currently comprised of: Rebecca Orsekes, Willy Ashbrook, Bob Krietler, Bob Cary, Hanque Parker, and Bill Barrett. Slide show by David Huntley? Zool, Mispah, and Lakes all completed or nearly so. Madison next. Hutmen’s Trail received some much-need attention over the Spring Reunion weekend. OH has adopted both Hall’s Ledge and Hutmen’s Trail. Hall’s Ledge could still use some work. This year’s award goes to Madison, for it’s consistently “high energy” delivery of a quality mountain experience to it’s public. Huts Manager Mike Kautz and others observed that the level of service to the public was so consistently high among all the croos that selecting one for this year’s award was particularly hard. The award is based more on the day-to-day delivery of hospitality than for response to “heroic events” such as epic rescues. Evites seem to be a good tool for publicizing our social events. Hot new tee design by our own in-house graphic artist Em Muldoon features smokin’ red Limmers and classy OH text on short and long-sleeve tees. Mike Kautz agreed to see if fall croos were interested in purchasing . (Thanks Mike!) Tees to be on hand for the upcoming Fall Reunion. Committee was in general agreement with His Editorship, Jim Hamilton, that our BIG issue should be moved to late summer/early fall, prior to the Fall Annual Reunion. A smaller issue—or simply postcards and evites—should be circulated in the spring to promote the Spring Reunion. Dues are now collected by separate mailing. Eric Peterson, hutman of 3 years, is Mike Kautz’s new Huts Field Assistant. Tuesday, October 17, 6:30 PM, Lester’s BBQ, Burlington, MA.
June 13, 2006 No progress to report. Still awaiting jack and Sandy’s action. Bill Barrett to draft letter soliciting bequests for committee review. Construction Crew Reunion (June 2 – 4) prepared a foundation for the new woodshed and improved the access trail, among other things. Next Annual CC Reunion scheduled for Octoberfest 2007 so as not to conflict with busy spring schedules of current CC and many alum. Cabin Brochure is now available at the Cabin and will be distributed with each key request from the Pinkham front desk. Brochure clarifiers who is OH, key sign out procedure, going rates, etc. Brawl attendence estimated to be around 30. Rain hurt turnout and swelled the Ellis so ball game was cancelled. Maybe move menu to burgers, etc. next year to reduce cost and help us at least break even? Jeremy Eggleton attended this year’s Gala and gave the current hut croos an introduction to the OHA, proper use of the Cabin, etc. a. Hut Night, Lonesome, June 25th (Bill): 10 folks signed up at present. b. Octoberfest, Oct. 7th: Dick Stetson to lead the charge, as usual. c. Fall Reunion, Nov 4th (Doug H./Jeremy): Schedule submitted for committee review includes afternoon hikes, special kids programs to attract families, happy hour (of course!), dinner followed by presentation by Jeff Leich of New England Ski Museum, followed in turn by music by whoever wants to make it. Reservation deadline for lodging at Highland Cenhter: 9/1. Bob Temple and Bruce & Mary Sloat to be recognized as Special Members. Committee voted to authorize the expenditure of up to $500 of OH funds in support of this event. A collection may be taken at the Reunion to help defray expenses regardless of final cost of event. June, 2007? Program? Committee roster (Rebecca Oreskes)? Cost? Zool, Mizpah and Lakes. Donations appear adequate to cover cost of this project, thanks to the hard work of Dug Hotchkiss. Zool and Mizpah photos to be hung soon, Lakes to follow later this summer. Madison Hut is next in line, so get out those missing croo pics! Hut croos remain enthusiastic about this award and current huts management is very supportive of our efforts to select for it and present it. Review team is in place and ready to tour the huts this summer. Evite format to be introduced for Fall Reunion. Let’s see how it goes. Tuesday, August 29th, at Lesters Bar-B-Q, Burlington. Agenda will include progress on transfer of Cabin and property, plans for Fall Reunion and Octoberfest, etc. Join us for some killer Memphis ribs!

April 16, 2003
1) OHA Trust:
It was unanimously agreed to incorporate the current OH Trust (current owner
of the cabin and land) as a not-for-profit corporation in the State of NH.
Bill Oliver has generously agreed to do the lawyering. The new entity should
greatly reduce our exposure to tort liability both individually and as a
group, while requiring only nominal fees and a minimal increase in paperwork.
The corporation, headed by a Board of Directors as yet to be appointed by
the Steering Committee, will assume ownership and responsibility for the
cabin and property. The OH Association itself will remain an unincorporated
and separate legal entity, and assume active management of the property as
the corporation's designated agent. The transfer of the Trust to the new
corporation is set for June 10, 2003.
